Our Puppy Programme

Tilly with her pups

The weeks a puppy spends with their mother, littermates and breeder are an important foundation for the life that follows.

Our puppies are raised with intention, individual attention and thoughtfully introduced experiences. Our goal is to give every puppy the strongest possible foundation for becoming a healthy, confident, well rounded Cocker Spaniel and a loved member of their family.

Every Puppy is an Individual

Our breeding decisions are guided by a considered balance of health, temperament, genetics, structure and type, with the long term wellbeing of the dogs we produce at the centre of every decision.

That same philosophy carries through to how we raise our puppies. We observe each puppy as an individual, paying attention to their personality, confidence, responses and development and thoughtfully shaping their experiences around their stage of growth.

We provide opportunities to build confidence, develop resilience, explore their environment, form positive relationships and become familiar with everyday life.

Early Development

The earliest days are quiet and centred around their mother. Each puppy is monitored individually from birth, with close attention to feeding, weight gain, development and behaviour.

As their senses develop, we gradually introduce carefully considered experiences appropriate to their age, including Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI).

These experiences form one part of a broader approach that prioritises maternal care, gentle handling, appropriate rest and a calm environment.

Expanding Their World

As our puppies mature, their environment gradually evolves with them.

We introduce puppies to different surfaces and textures, household sounds, grooming and handling, new environments, age appropriate enrichment, movement and exploration.

Our approach isn't about exposing puppies to as much as possible.

It's about introducing them to the world at an appropriate pace, allowing them to develop confidence, curiosity and positive associations with new experiences. ‍ ‍

Socialisation and Enrichment

Our puppies have opportunities for positive, age appropriate interaction with people, their mother, littermates and, where appropriate, our adult dogs. Through play, exploration and enrichment, they learn communication, boundaries, problem solving and how to confidently navigate their environment.

Before leaving us, puppies are introduced to many of the everyday experiences they will encounter in their new homes, including grooming and handling, car travel, household routines and the foundations of toilet training.

Their health and development are closely monitored throughout their time with us, with appropriate veterinary care, vaccination, microchipping and parasite prevention provided before they leave.

Each family also receives a carefully prepared puppy pack, together with information to help make the transition home as smooth as possible.
